The power of the desert and its impressive stone color will make you take more than one photo! Approximately 100 kilometers from Calama, the world's driest desert jealously hides a small oasis called San Pedro de Atacama. It is an adobe village with dirt streets that has stolen the hearts of thousands of tourists with the charms of Atacameño and Spanish culture present in each of its structures.
Conditions: Flights must arrive at Calama Airport before noon. Please allow 2 hours for the transfer from the airport to the hotel in San Pedro.
Half-day Excursion: Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley)
Semi-private service
On this half-day excursion through otherworldly landscapes, we will witness a spectacular sunset that makes the Atacama Desert South America's most romantic tourist destination. Within the Salt Mountain Range, we will find the Valle de la Luna, with its rock formations resembling natural sculptures and the salt crust covering its originally reddish land in white. Here, we will witness the action of wind erosion on the hills and dunes, which has created peculiar figures that, thanks to light effects, take on different appearances.
While walking its trails to reach Tres Marías, the valley's largest dune, we can take photos that simulate lunar landscapes. Furthermore, on the way to Victoria, the old salt mine, we will see grottoes with stalactites and enjoy a striking view of the region's volcanoes. The highlight is the privileged view from the Kari lookout over the Valle de la Luna. From there, we will watch as the sunset paints the Valle de la Luna and the San Pedro valley with color.

Day 3: San Pedro de Atacama
Full-day Excursion – Geyser del Tatio
Semi-private service
Just as the first rays of sun appear, we will depart to discover an area known for its intense volcanic activity: El Tatio, "the weeping grandfather," the largest group of geysers in the Southern Hemisphere and the third largest in the world! The journey there will be the perfect excuse to learn about the biodiversity of the Machuca and Putana wetlands and visit the traditional highland village of Machuca.
From the Putana Ford viewpoint, we can admire the wetlands, one of the richest ecosystems of the Altiplano, home to species in vulnerable conservation status, such as the puma. It is also a very attractive spot for birdwatching. At 4,000 meters above sea level, we will find Machuca, a small village of stone, mud, and straw that will transport us back in time. There, we will also have a wonderful view of the wetlands, where herders bring their herds of llamas and sheep to graze.
The Géiseres del Tatio will be our destination. The waters that infiltrate from the mountain range and reach this area create a spectacle upon contact with hot underground rocks: fumaroles shooting up to 10 meters high. After our tour, we will be ready to enjoy breakfast in an area near the Tatio geothermal field, with a marvelous view of its fumaroles.
